Companies 30th Birthday Celebration
The Brief
It all started off with a phone call from The Mayfair Hotel who put us in touch with the head of marketing for Nikita (the largest hairdressing chain in Norway & Sweden). One hundred and twenty senior staff members were coming to London to celebrate the companies 30th Birthday. At first we were asked to put together a list of fun activities for the group to before they had their gala dinner at the hotel but it soon turned into much more!
The Venue
The client wanted a ‘British’ experience for the guests and what’s more British than Tea at the Ritz? We took over three inter-leading private rooms, each room had its own personality but they all had the ornate and lavish feel that comes with being at this iconic venue.
The Event
It’s 8am and we are excitedly waiting at the arrivals terminal at Heathrow airport with fake paparazzi, video cameras and two actor/tour guides. One guide was dressed head to toe in a Union Jack suit, with the other in a tweed suit, looking rather similar to Prince Charles on a hunting trip.
Waving signs and banners, we got the guests onto two coaches. While the radio played the greatest hits to come out of Britain since the 1970s, the actors took the guests on a rather ridiculous but informative tour of London until we reached the Ritz.
The guests were escorted to the garden area of the Ritz where they had a champagne reception with a saxophonist playing Elton John’s Nikita and other hits in the background. After the champagne, the guests went upstairs to the private rooms for the famous afternoon tea. They were welcomed by The Queen and Prince William… well they certainly looked like them! After lots of sandwiches, tea and selfies with the ‘Royal’ family, they went off to The Mayfair Hotel to get ready for their ‘Nikita’s Got Talent’ show which was to be held in the theatre at The May Fair.
Our actor/tour guide, dressed up as Simon Cowell, helped to judge the show. When all of the performances were over and the results were in, the guests got ready for dinner in the Crystal Room. Transforming the function space with mirror ball table centres, a white stage and backdrop, Nikita logos in lights and giant hairdresser props, the award ceremony and gala dinner was ready to commence. We weren’t finished yet, models painted in the Nikita colours (black and white) with avant-garde hair styles handed out awards and a Gospel Choir surprised the guests with uplifting tunes to get them in the mood to party. After eating a bespoke cake with was the image of a hair salon, the guests were taken up to the May Fair bar to dance with some gorgeous shirtless models until the early hours of the morning.
When the guests came down for breakfast, they were each given a magazine with all of the highlights and pictures from their day in London, as well as maps and directions leading them to the great tourist and shopping spots in London.
It’s safe to say that everyone was given a unique insight into what London has to offer, and we look forward to planning their next event.
